It is the most popular and also the most veteran of all the ReventÓN Trail categories, since it has been celebrated yearly since 2011. Although it keeps most of the course of the previous editions, in 2017 it is due to premiere a newly designed section from km 22.5. Its course starts by climbing the hillsides of mount Bejenao up to the 1,100 metre mark. Then it turns East and links up with the PR LP 13.3 footpath, descending towards the chapel of Virgen del Pino through the neighbourhood of Valencia. This is the point where El Reventón starts (this part of the trail translates as “The Burst” in Spanish due to its merciless slopes of +35%). Runners are so lead to Pista de la Hilera, a wide forest track perched on the island’s backbone, which becomes the peak of the race and its most runnable leg. After reaching Refugio del Pilar, it descends via the PR LP 14 footpath towards Llano de los Jables, overlapping with the new course of the Marathon at the ravine of Barranco de la Pernada and turning towards the finish line at Llano de las Cuevas.
